Why this tune?
I wrote “Park Road Serenade” in mid-2020, and shared it first in a livestream concert.
This was one of the shows sponsored by Mr. Henry’s restaurant in Washington, DC. The tune didn’t yet have a title, so I asked for suggestions from the audience. Ian Taronji proposed the title I used – it fit the mood of the tune and recalls the place where it was written and first performed, my street in Washington, DC.
I had an opportunity to play it again on St. Croix, at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts. While I enjoy playing this one solo, I really want to play it with a group at a gig or jam session. Besides the energy of playing in a group, I always enjoy hearing how other musicians interpret my tunes.
Many thanks to the Mr. Henry’s team for supporting musicians through the pandemic year.
