Mark your calendar for the October 29 release of “Ain’t It The Truth,” a new song featuring the performance and producing talents of Carolyn Malachi, a DC-based, GRAMMY-nominated musician / producer / engineer.
I wrote “Ain’t It The Truth” in 2018 after hearing a certain political advisor state on TV that “truth isn’t truth.” I call this turning indignation into inspiration, informed by my work with the International Center for Journalists on programs countering disinformation around the world.
The final production, dropping on October 29, 2020, expands on a demo track I recorded with Carolyn, adding a bass part from Kris Funn and violin accents by Nataly Merezhuk, both of whom recorded their parts at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Carolyn combined the musical raw materials into a coherent musical statement, a fight song for fact-checkers and a message of encouragement for the rest of us: “we can make it / If we can fight that long.”
