Why this tune?
I started this week’s tune “Terminal” in January, and only got around to finishing it this week. It’s a musical complement to “In the Lounge” from my 2018 album, but this time about all those people who don’t have “the right to be in the lounge.” Even though I don’t travel as much as I used to, I clearly am still attracted to travel and airports as subjects for songs.
Starting off the year with a song-a-day challenge turns out to have been a good way to kick-start my writing. I’ve written about 40 songs so far this year, most of them more or less complete and some of them good enough to have performed live. I’m planning to start the next year in a similar way.
