Why this tune?
I spent most of my professional life in the worlds of technology, as an engineer, programmer, marketer and product manager. Spending all that time creating products and seeing their impact led me to the conclusion that our technology can do plenty of good, but can’t by itself resolve the very human conflicts and challenges we face. In short, “Tech can’t fix people.” Several years ago I put that thought on a mug and ball cap but it took me several more years to express that thought in song.
I started to write the song last year. After I finished it this year, I used it as an experiment in music production, building a complete track by myself using the amazing digital tools we have at our disposal. I shared it during this year’s FAWM and got some constructive feedback on the production that helped me improve the track to what you’re hearing today. I hope you appreciate the message and enjoy the music!
