Why this tune?
This week’s tune is another daily project in the January song-a-day challenge organized by Kat and Sarah from Songwriting For Music Educators. After years as a technology developer and manager, I learned that everyone wants to change, but nobody wants to do anything different. That remained just a grumble until my wife (and friends) suggested that I should finally write a song about it. Since I’m writing a song a day I’m always on the lookout for material. It took a couple of days to figure out the story that could express that idea in song form. The music borrows liberally from Herbie Hancock’s “Dolphin Dance.”
Once again, I went back to a 32-bar AABA song form for this one, which seems to be my “natural” musical and lyrical home.
