Why this tune?
I first shared “Conversation” on Tunes on Tuesday in June, performing the second version of a song that I started to write back in February. I shared the post with the team at the “Switched On Pop” podcast and was delighted to get a supportive comment from them: “Small talk is so hard. This song makes it easier.”
For my revue at District Fringe this summer I adapted the song into a duet, where both sides of a couple share the story about how they met. As you can see and hear in the video, that turned it into more of a proper cabaret theater piece which was perfect for the show. Looking at it now though, I think I need to “tune” some of the pronouns for future performances.
I’ve been thinking about evolving the whole show into a two-person piece, where the “Conversation” duet would fit in very well. I would also love for others to perform the tune. Please let me know if you’d like to add it to your set!
