Why this tune?
I wrote the first version of this week’s song at least three years ago (if not more) and have been editing it occasionally since then. This is the fourth iteration of the tune, which started in 4/4 with a much more complicated harmony and melody. The latest version has simpler harmony and is in 3/4, which fits the lyric and the mood better. I also adjusted the lyrics but kept the original story.
I have a list of over 30 songs in the ‘incomplete” category, some of which I started over five years ago. I don’t just give up on a song often — I want to think that most of the ones on the list could be worthy of performance one day.
I think this one is getting closer, and still needs an adjustment or two.
