Why this tune?
I wrote this week’s tune last month during the annual February Album Writing Month at FAWM.org. The prompt for the song was “convenience,” which led to this musing on recent advances in large language model “AI.” Among the many tools out there are programs that will write songs for you based on prompts. My thought was that regardless of the ethical and legal implications, I just don’t want to use them. For me, the writing is the fun part. As the song says, there’s value in getting stuck and working your way through problems and challenges. But then, as the style of the song suggests, I may be a bit old fashioned, maybe reaching my limit of technological progress. In any case, I’ll keep on writing songs one word, chord and note at a time.
