Why this tune?
We celebrate the start of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year 5785 תשפ”ה tomorrow night (Oct. 2, 2024). After a year that has been difficult for many of us (including me), I wanted to share a positive, hopeful message for the new one. “When The Morning Comes” tries to do that, celebrating the opportunity for a new start that the new day (or year) brings.
I wrote it one morning after a short bout of writer’s block, and recorded it for my 2018 album. I’m grateful for the superb musicians who brought it to life: Aaron Myers, Herb Scott, Percy White and Ele Rubenstein.
I’m also grateful for the opportunity to create and perform music, and to all the people the music has reached this year. May we have a year of of building up, not tearing down, of moving forward, not backward.
