Why this tune?
I’m spending time this month reviewing and revising songs I have written or started to write, as part of a larger goal to plan out some recording projects for the next year or so. I wrote the first draft of “Improbable” in January – one of my song-a-day creations inspired by a word on a random page in a book. I liked the music but wasn’t happy with the lyrics, which I thought were far too vague. This second draft is an attempt to craft a more coherent story about the life of a relationship which in retrospect isn’t “improbable” at all.
I welcome your thoughts on whether this draft works – I’m open to going back to have another go. I heard somewhere that writing is easy but re-writing is hard. I can understand that. You get attached to your own creations.
I plan to share more writes and re-writes in future weeks.
