Tunes on Tuesday: Let Go

Why this tune?

I’m starting the new year with a challenge, to write a song a day (or at least part of
one) through January. This challenge is hosted by Sarah Gulish and Kat Reinhert of “Songwriting for ME.” They provide resources and support for music educators who want to write music and teach those skills to their students.

This is a great opportunity to kick-start my writing for 2024 and explore different styles and forms. This week’s song “Let Go” started with a phrase I had in my list of song ideas, “throw caution to the wind.” That phrase plus the idea of “letting go” led to this musical tale about getting away from it all. I like what I have so far, but it really needs more work (and more words) to turn into a proper song worthy of a full production.

I plan to get to that after January.
