Tunes on Tuesday: C’est Si Bon

Why this tune?

C’est Si Bon is a French song from 1947, composed by Henri Betti with lyrics by André Hornez. Eartha Kitt made the song a top 10 hit with her 1953 version.

I learned the song from my longtime musical partner Barbara Papendorp. We have been performing it around Washington, DC for several years, adding Alan Sherman’s 1963 parody “I See Bones” as a second “verse” to complement the French lyrics of the original song.

I chose this song for this week’s Tunes on Tuesday to celebrate our return to live performances at our favorite DC spot, Bistrot Lepic. The DC government recently decided to remove all capacity restrictions for restaurants on May 21, with bars and nightclubs to follow on June 11. We’re delighted that Lepic decided to re-start its Wednesday jazz nights with our show on May 26.

“C’est Si Bon,” It’s really so good to return to performing in front of live audiences, after over a year of live streaming and virtual events.
