Arbor Day needs more songs!

in the US, Arbor Day is coming up on April 28. It’s the day we set aside to celebrate the trees, and like all holidays, it deserves some good holiday songs.

Here’s my contribution, recorded here with the talented vocalist and actress Barbara Papendorp. Enjoy the song and spare a moment for a tree!

“Hanukkah Light” on the radio!

Happy to discover this week that the syndicated public radio music show Upfront Soul added my song “Hanukkah Light” to their playlist for their Dec. 19 show, which is being broadcast this week on the program’s home station, WERU in Maine, and several other community radio stations around the US. You can tune in in your town, or listen to the program online through PRX.

This recording is from “Snowing In Vegas,” the holiday album I recorded with Aaron Myers last year. There’s more original seasonal songs on the album, which you can purchase on CD (or stream at your convenience).

Happy holidays and best wishes for a musical 2017!

Hanukkah Light

Hanukkah starts on the late side this year (first candle Dec. 24), but it’s not too early to start thinking about Hanukkah music. You can hear my Hanukkah “carol” on Aaron Myers’ holiday album Snowing In Vegas. I created a video for the song this year to help spread the light. Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving! Some songs for the season

Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! I’m happy to offer a few musical “snacks” to add to your holiday preparations.

You can hear these live as well: I’m joining Barbara Papendorp and Amy Conley at their Capital Cabaret at Mr. Henry’s on Nov. 27 to sing about Thanksgiving. Barbara and I will perform more seasonal tunes at Bistrot Lepic on Nov. 30.

Here’s “Thanksgiving For Uncle Rob,” a song about the important non-culinary parts of the holiday, sung by Aaron Myers:

Back in the kitchen, I offer two comments on the meal, sung by Barbara Papendorp:

Celebrating Hanukkah with new holiday songs!

HanukkahTonight we celebrated the first night of Hanukkah and the release of the holiday album I recorded with the superb Washington, DC vocalist Aaron Myers, “Snowing In Vegas.” While lighting the candles, we played my composition “Hanukkah Light” from the album, honoring the Hanukkah lights that warm our hearts and fight back the winter darkness.
I hope you enjoy our music throughout the holiday season and in every season.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016.

An offering for a musical Thanksgiving / Hanukkah

For this year’s rare confluence of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, I offer my musical tributes to both holidays, performed here by Barbara Papendorp and Russwin Francisco.

Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Hanukkah, Hag Urim Sameach, and best wishes for a warm and peaceful winter season.

Both of these were recorded live on Nov. 22, 2013, at the Black Fox Lounge in Washington, DC
