It’s a snow day in Washington, DC. Here’s some music for a day inside (hope it’s a warm place).
Happy New Year! I just sent out my list of performances for January 2018 to the mailing list. I also posted a new video for my song “Snow Day” (perfect for this “bomb cyclone” week we’re experiencing in the US Northeast). Hope you enjoy it.
Here’s my live music schedule for April 2017. Please come out on April 1 (seriously!) for what promises to be a fun and foolish show with Barbara Papendorp (and special guests) at Mr. Henry’s. We have a great band and fun selection of songs for the season, including some of my Spring selections.
I’ll be at Acadiana on Easter Sunday, April 16, with the fine vocalist Tony Gudell and a trio. This is my first show at this elegant Cajun restaurant in downtown DC, and we’ll be presenting an equally elegant program of American standards, including some lesser-known gems and a couple of my originals.
Barbara and I are back at the Blue Bar at the Henley Park Hotel on the 22nd, another chance to play their grand piano. After that, I’ll be back with Aaron Myers and the band to close out the month with a show at Mr. Henry’s on the 28th.
Hope to see you!
Happy to discover this week that the syndicated public radio music show Upfront Soul added my song “Hanukkah Light” to their playlist for their Dec. 19 show, which is being broadcast this week on the program’s home station, WERU in Maine, and several other community radio stations around the US. You can tune in in your town, or listen to the program online through PRX.
This recording is from “Snowing In Vegas,” the holiday album I recorded with Aaron Myers last year. There’s more original seasonal songs on the album, which you can purchase on CD (or stream at your convenience).
Happy holidays and best wishes for a musical 2017!
Hanukkah starts on the late side this year (first candle Dec. 24), but it’s not too early to start thinking about Hanukkah music. You can hear my Hanukkah “carol” on Aaron Myers’ holiday album Snowing In Vegas. I created a video for the song this year to help spread the light. Enjoy!
Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! I’m happy to offer a few musical “snacks” to add to your holiday preparations.
You can hear these live as well: I’m joining Barbara Papendorp and Amy Conley at their Capital Cabaret at Mr. Henry’s on Nov. 27 to sing about Thanksgiving. Barbara and I will perform more seasonal tunes at Bistrot Lepic on Nov. 30.
Here’s “Thanksgiving For Uncle Rob,” a song about the important non-culinary parts of the holiday, sung by Aaron Myers:
Back in the kitchen, I offer two comments on the meal, sung by Barbara Papendorp:
Here’s my performance schedule for November 2016: playing for both the DC Jazz Singers jam (Nov 6) and the DC Jazz Jam with guest artist Elijah Balbed (Nov 13). I’m then back at Bistrot Lepic on Nov. 30 with Barbara Papendorp and Daniel Brown.
