Oren Levine is an accomplished jazz pianist and composer from Washington, DC. He performs frequently in the Washington, DC area, leading his own groups and performing regularly with DC vocalists Aaron Myers and Barbara Papendorp. He also is a long-standing member of the house band at the weekly DC Jazz Jam.
Oren has performed with notable DC area vocalists including Integriti Reeves, Jessica Boykin-Settles, Sharón Clark, and Lena Seikaly, and instrumentalists Tedd Baker, Herb Scott, Tarus Mateen, Shawn Purcell, Eliot Seppa, Nicole Saphos, Lenny Robinson, Percy White, and Will Stephens.
Oren’s original song “Stand Right”, performed by Aaron Myers, was featured on NPR and in the Washington Post. His jazz and pop songs have been recorded by Aaron Myers (http://www.aaron2.me) and Jason Mendelson’s MetroSongs project (http://www.metrosongs.org).
Oren developed his skills as a performer and accompanist through private study with Harry Appelman, Frank Wilkins, and Boston legend Harvey Diamond. As a regular participant in the Vermont Jazz Center summer workshop, he studied piano and theory with Eugene Uman and Ray Gallon.
